THE SINGING FRATERNITY
Beta Theta Pi has been known as a singing fraternity almost from birth. The Alpha Chapter has proudly upheld
this tradition. Pledges practice and learn numerous Beta songs throughout their pledge period, actives sing
songs at every ritual and chapter meeting, and serenades take place throughout the spring semester.
We have emphasized the idea contained in the words, "a singing chapter is a good chapter." Considering sentiment
of prime importance in binding the hearts of its members together, it always has recognized that those chapters
which cultivate and cherish the sentimental side of fraternity life are likely to be the ones to which other
features of that life appeal. Because of this deep-seated feeling, many members throughout our history have been
compelled to write Beta songs. The collection of them, which is generally regarded as an exceptionally fine one,
continues to grow to this day. It contains not only songs written to long-familiar tunes, but many are also set
to original music.
